Parents will be glad to know there’s no need to palm the kids off for this year’s East Coast Radio House & Garden Show; with a strong focus on the family and a host of exciting family-centred activities, there is something to keep everyone entertained.

We know that planning and decorating a child’s room is special, fun and challenging. This year, we have something wonderful to help bring imaginations and ideas to life with the ingenious Edit by Olly Polly, Genevieve Motley. Together with Olly Polly, other local suppliers will be showcasing children’s décor and accessories to further inspire your children’s rooms or living spaces.

Parents can also look forward to a well-deserved break and peace-of-mind in the safety of their children at the Melissa & Doug Play Space. Not only will this area include dedicated child-minders, but it will also be abundant with the interactive, well-known toys, games and learning activities from Melissa & Doug.

The Magic Bean Foundation, an initiative aimed at spreading awareness of our waste through craft activities, will be running Magic Makers workshops on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) within the Melissa & Doug Play Space that are designed to teach young minds about recycling, upcycling and saving the planet by turning everyday rubbish into functional items.

Open from 10am – 6pm daily

A premium, state of the art Defy cooking zone will be a highlight at this year’s Defy Stand. The Defy Junior Chef Zone, targeted at kids from the age of 7-13 years, the zone will teach kids how to make their own nutritious meals with selected Defy small appliances (i.e. Power Blender, Toaster, Hand Mixer, Microwave, etc.) in a fun and interactive way. Leading from the theme, ”Mom, look what I can cook!”, Defy wants to encourage kids to always “Believe in Better” by instilling a sense of independence in their lives. What better way to do this than by teaching them how to prepare and make their own nutritious meals with minimal adult supervision as possible.

The Kids Cooking Classes will be instructed by a local Durban professional chef – Luke Reddy. Luke Reddy owns a restaurant (Crafts Men) and a bakery (Moideen The Bread Peddler).
