With just ten days to go until we welcome you and your friends through our doors, we can’t keep it all a secret any longer!

To ensure you don’t have to explore the show on your own, we’ve pulled out all the stops to make sure this year’s show has something for everyone and guarantee you that the whole family will want to join you this year! Here’s a little taste of what to expect at the Durban Exhibition Centre from 29 June to 8 July.


Décor and Design Lovers

  • Local design. Our brand-new feature, Discover Durban Design, will showcase striking locally-inspired home décor products, furniture and fashion created by incredibly talented local crafters, designers and curators currently driving local trends. Adding to the passion for local décor, we are bringing back the popular Home Grown Design Fair, an artistic hub of talent returning as a Pop-Up platform of artisanal design and décor products made by local crafters setting their own Durban-inspired trends from 29 June to 1 July.
  • DIY master. Home improvement enthusiasts, can find new project ideas at the Builders DIY Pavilion. Improve your techniques with interactive workshops, get expert advice and exclusive show specials on power tools and equipment from over 40 trusted suppliers.
  • Street art. Presenting a perfect moment for your next InstaStory, video or selfie, local street artist, Giffy Duminy will be painting a live spectacle of our 2018 theme “Home is Where the Heart is”, a 10-meter-long mural depicting his interpretation of home from 29 June to 1 July.
  • Kids’ décor. Find inspiration to turn your children’s fantasy bedroom into a reality and find workable solutions to decluttering and redecorating children’s rooms or living spaces in kid’s décor feature, The Edit, headed up by Genevieve Motley, designer, blogger and founder of inspirational kid’s décor and handmade toys online store, Olly Polly.


Green Fingers and Outdoor Projects


  • Garden-savvy. Prepare to be inspired by landscaped garden features, gain insight and go home with indoor, outdoor, seasonal and edible plants in the popular Green Fingers area. Visit the Gin Garden Bar for botanical splashes of refreshment and a talented line-up of live music.
  • The host with the most. Get inspiration for your outdoor entertainment area with a selection of modern pools and spas, decking and paving options, caravans, boats, and gardening supplies.


  • Demonstration station. In partnership with Durban Tourism, we show you why #Durbanhasmore with the Discover Durban Cuisine Kitchen. Look out for demonstrations by Masterchef SA Chef Lungile Nhlanhla and the popular sister duo Chilli Chocolate Chefs as they present their top tips, inspired flavour combinations and favourite dishes celebrating cultural, traditional, and contemporary local foods.
  • Tickle those taste buds. We celebrate Durban’s growing street food trend in a Foodie Fair that has doubled in size and flavour. Explore the delectable eats on offer that represent Durban’s diverse culture; a gastronomical paradise of mouth-watering, local food experiences.


Gamers and Comic Fans

  • Gaming fame. We bring you the Durban Gaming Expo, a Pop-Up feature taking place from 5 to 7 July only. Catering to about 150 gamers in an incredible LAN setup, the expo will include big screens, competitions and exciting prizes.
  • Proud geeks. Get ready for Geekville, a feature designed to excite the biggest comic fan, that will run alongside the Durban Gaming Expo from 5 to 7 July. Themed, Lara Croft’s Mayan Jungle, Geekville will include an escape room, medieval fighting demonstrations, rubix cube challenges, themed apparel and merchandise, cosplay competitions, flash mobs, card games, paintball and much more.


Cool Kids

  • Explore the show. Parents – take a break to soak up the show in your own time, while your children play and learn with the abundance of toys and activities, in the care of the dedicated childminders in the Melissa & Doug Play Space.
  • Weekend Fun. On Saturdays and Sundays, the kids can get involved in fun interactive activities while learning important life lessons. We help you to get them to eat their greens and start making their own lunches with the Fry’s Free Ranger Superheroes’ Superfood for Super Kids and Defy Junior Chef Zone cooking demonstrations. We also get them learning about recycling, upcycling and saving the planet by turning everyday rubbish into functional items with The Magic Bean Foundation’s Magic Makers workshops.


Explorers and Travellers

In partnership with Tourism KZN, we bring back the KZN Travel & Adventure Show, a Pop-Up celebration of life aimed at creating memory-making experiences with family and friends from 5 to 8 July only.
